Balogun ends Everton move as deadline-day transfer falls through

Folarin Balogun has abandoned a planned transfer from Monaco to Everton after the move unravelled on deadline day, according to reports from British media. The United States striker had been set for a switch to Merseyside before deciding not to go ahead.

Everton had agreed a fee reported to be about £40m for the 25-year-old, but the deal became uncertain after concerns emerged around his medical, the Guardian reported. The club had already sold Beto to Fiorentina and Iliman Ndiaye to Manchester City as part of its efforts to raise funds.

With the Balogun move collapsing, Everton explored other forward options, including Joshua Zirkzee at Manchester United and Tammy Abraham at Aston Villa, but loan approaches for both players were turned down, according to the Guardian. BBC Sport and ESPN also reported that Balogun walked away from the transfer.

The breakdown leaves Everton having reshaped its attack late in the window, while Monaco keep a striker who had been linked with a Premier League move throughout the day.
