Google lets users hide visible marks on AI-generated media

Google has updated Gemini and its video tool Flow so people can switch off the on-screen watermark on content made with its AI systems.

Google has changed its AI tools so users can remove the visible watermark that appears on images, video and music created with them, according to reports on Friday. The update applies to Gemini and Flow, the company’s AI video generator.

The setting can be turned off through a new media watermark option, which removes the sparkle mark shown in the corner of generated content. Google said the change affects only the visible label.

The company will keep its hidden SynthID marker in place, meaning the files can still be identified as AI-made even when the on-screen watermark is disabled. The move comes as major technology companies continue to adjust how they label and present AI output.
