Newcastle sign Amar Dedic from Benfica in £30m deal

The Bosnia and Herzegovina defender has joined Newcastle United from Benfica on a five-year contract, with the transfer fee reported at about £30m.

Newcastle United have signed defender Amar Dedic from Benfica in a deal reported to be worth about £30m on Tuesday. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has agreed a five-year contract at St James' Park.

BBC Sport reported the fee as around £30m, while Sky Sports put the move at £29.5m. The transfer adds a right-sided defender to Eddie Howe's squad as Newcastle continue their summer recruitment.

Dedic arrives after a spell at Benfica, where he moved before this transfer. The 23-year-old has also been a regular for Bosnia and Herzegovina at international level.

The signing is Newcastle's latest addition as they prepare for the new season, with the club continuing to strengthen after a busy transfer window.
