The International Tennis Integrity Agency treated the case as involving use outside competition, which allowed the penalty to be shortened from the standard sanction. Kyrgios had initially been suspended after the positive test in June.
The Guardian reported that Kyrgios has also entered a treatment program. The former Wimbledon finalist has not played regularly in recent seasons because of injury and other setbacks.
Kyrgios, 30, reached the Wimbledon final in 2022 and has been one of the sport's most recognisable and controversial figures. His return to the tour now depends on his own decision to resume playing.
