Paris Saint-Germain defeated Aston Villa 2-1 in the UEFA Super Cup in Salzburg on Wednesday, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue scoring for the French side. The result gave PSG the first major European trophy of the new season.

Kvaratskhelia put PSG ahead before Aston Villa levelled through 17-year-old Brian Madjo, who became the youngest scorer in the competition’s history, according to reports from the match. Doue then restored PSG’s lead in the second half with the decisive goal.

Aston Villa stayed in the contest and had chances to force a shootout, but PSG held on through the closing stages. Warren Zaïre-Emery made a key block to deny João Gomes, while Emi Buendía headed wide in stoppage time.

The win added another trophy to PSG’s recent run under Luis Enrique, with Marquinhos also reaching a personal milestone by lifting his 40th title with the club, according to CBS Sports.
