Thomas Castellanos commits to Texas Tech for his fifth college season
Former Florida State, Boston College and UCF quarterback Thomas Castellanos has chosen Texas Tech and is set to join the Red Raiders this season.
Thomas Castellanos has committed to Texas Tech and will play his fifth college season in Lubbock, according to reports on Wednesday. The quarterback previously spent time at Florida State, Boston College and UCF.
ESPN reported that Castellanos told Pete Thamel of the move, while CBS Sports said he is expected to suit up for the Red Raiders this season. Texas Tech is still exploring additional roster additions as it continues to build depth.
The transfer gives coach Joey McGuire another experienced quarterback option as the program looks to strengthen its roster. Castellanos arrives after stops at three other major college programs.
Texas Tech has been active in adding talent as it prepares for the upcoming season, with McGuire publicly defending the team's approach to bringing in former professional players. Castellanos' commitment adds another piece to that effort.
