Unitree shares jump on Shanghai market debut
The humanoid robot maker’s first day of trading drew a sharp rise as investors backed China’s fast-growing robotics sector.
Chinese robotics company Unitree saw its shares climb sharply on Wednesday after beginning trade on Shanghai’s Star market, according to reports from multiple outlets. The listing marked the firm’s stock market debut in China.
The company’s share price rose by as much as 620% during the session, reflecting strong investor interest in humanoid robots, according to Al Jazeera. Unitree is widely described as the world’s largest maker of humanoid robots.
The firm has attracted attention beyond the industry through online videos showing its machines doing martial arts, moving at high speed and appearing as dancers alongside pop performers, the Guardian reported. That visibility has helped make the company one of the best-known names in robotics.
The debut comes as Chinese investors show growing enthusiasm for advanced automation and human-like machines, with Unitree positioned at the centre of that trend.
