Woody Johnson buys minority stake in Aston Martin Formula 1 team

New York Jets chairman Woody Johnson has taken a minority holding in Aston Martin Aramco and will become vice chairman of the team’s board.

Woody Johnson, the owner of the New York Jets, has bought a minority stake in the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 team, the company said on Thursday. He will also join the team’s board as vice chairman.

The deal adds another major sports investment to Johnson’s portfolio, which already includes the NFL’s Jets and Crystal Palace in English football. Aston Martin did not disclose the size or value of the holding.

The Formula 1 team is based in Britain and competes under the Aston Martin Aramco name. The announcement comes as the series continues to attract investors from outside motor racing.
