Body of missing teenager found in New South Wales bushland after week-long search

Police in New South Wales have found the body of 18-year-old Lily Hooper in remote bushland after an eight-day search in a national park in the state’s south. She had gone missing while hiking last week.

NSW police said the discovery was made in bushland as officers searched for a missing bushwalker in the Southern Highlands. The force did not immediately release further details about the location or the circumstances.

The search drew attention after an initial report suggested Hooper had been found alive, before police later confirmed that account was wrong. The state premier had also briefly said she had been located alive.

Hooper was last seen after setting out on her hike a week earlier, according to local reports. The case remains under police investigation.
