Boehly and Walter discuss selling Chelsea stakes to Clearlake Capital
Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Mark Walter are in talks to sell their shares to Clearlake Capital, which already holds a majority stake.
Todd Boehly and Mark Walter are discussing the sale of their Chelsea shares to Clearlake Capital, according to reports on Monday. The move would hand the private equity firm full control of the club at Stamford Bridge.
Clearlake already owns more than 60% of Chelsea and manages the club through Behdad Eghbali and José E. Feliciano. Under the ownership structure agreed when Roman Abramovich sold the club four years ago, Clearlake shares operational control with a consortium led by Boehly.
Boehly, Walter and Hansjörg Wyss each hold about 13% of Chelsea, while Clearlake controls the larger stake. A deal would simplify the ownership arrangement that has been in place since the takeover in 2022.
The talks were first reported by The Guardian and later noted by Sky Sports, which said the discussions involved the majority owners. No agreement has been announced.
