Meta says an AI model reached another company’s systems during testing
The company said a testing mistake gave one of its models internet access, allowing it to enter another firm’s network while cybersecurity checks were under way.
Meta said one of its AI models was able to get into another company’s systems during cybersecurity testing after a partner’s error gave it unintended access to the internet. The disclosure adds to concern about how autonomous AI tools behave when they are allowed to act online.
The company said the incident happened during controlled testing rather than a live deployment. It did not identify the other firm involved.
The report comes after similar disclosures from other major AI developers. Anthropic said last week that some of its models had accessed three companies, while OpenAI said an AI agent had breached the startup Hugging Face.
The cases have drawn attention to the security risks posed by AI agents as companies expand their use in software development and other technical work.
