According to Twitch, user-generated content may be used to improve future generative AI models unless creators choose to opt out. The company said the option is now available to streamers who do not want their broadcasts and related material included.
The move follows criticism from users who objected to the idea that their content could be used in this way without an active choice. Twitch’s chief product officer, Mike Minton, said on a livestream that an opt-in system would likely attract little participation.
The policy sits within a wider debate over how technology companies gather data for AI development and what rights creators have over their work. Twitch is owned by Amazon, which has been expanding its use of AI across its products and services.
