UN offers aid after powerful earthquake in western Colombia

In Cali, one of Colombia’s largest cities, Mayor Alejandro Eder said more than two dozen structures had collapsed and that people were still trapped. He said the city had asked authorities in Bogota and Medellin to send disaster teams to help with the response.
The quake prompted evacuations in some areas as officials assessed the scale of the destruction. The UN said it stood ready to support relief efforts as Colombia dealt with the aftermath.
