Matic adds voice and gesture controls to its robot vacuum
The home-cleaning robot can now respond to spoken commands or a pointed finger as the company rolls out a software update to existing devices.
Matic has added voice and gesture controls to its robot vacuum and mop through a software update, letting users direct cleaning tasks without opening an app. The company said the feature is now reaching current owners and will come built in on new machines.
With the update, people can speak commands such as asking the robot to clean a room, or point to a spill or mess for spot cleaning. According to Matic, the system works in more than 70 languages.
The company is calling the new package Matic Cues. It is being delivered over the air to existing robots, while future units will ship with the capability already installed.
