OpenAI expands ChatGPT with Google Drive editing and Mac activity memory
OpenAI is adding new ways for ChatGPT to use files from Google Drive and, on Mac, to draw on user activity for added context.
OpenAI has begun rolling out new ChatGPT features that let subscribers open and edit Google Drive documents inside the chat and, on Mac, feed activity data into the assistant’s memory. The changes extend how the chatbot can pull in outside information and user context.
According to 9to5Mac, the Google Drive update lets users add files to ChatGPT’s library and work on documents without switching apps. CNET reported that the Mac feature can use clicks, keystrokes and other interactions to help ChatGPT and Codex understand what a user is doing.
The additions come as major technology companies keep pushing deeper AI integrations into everyday software. Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg has also recently published a long letter on artificial intelligence, underscoring how prominent tech leaders are using public manifestos to frame the direction of the industry.
The latest changes add to a steady stream of product updates around AI assistants, cloud storage and desktop workflows as companies compete to make their tools more useful inside existing platforms.
